All Can Create Animated Movies
with Computer
Friends here I will write a review about the animation. Actually this is the task of the lecturer in Computer Graphics & Image Processing. We are asking for reviews about computer graphics such as virtual Reality, animation, video games, and others related to computer graphics. I will discuss about animation here I will explain about what is animation, technology used, just I will peel out about the animation.
INTRODUCTION
Animation, or more familiarly referred to as an animated film, is a film that is the result of processing a hand image into a moving image. At the beginning of the invention, animated films were made of sheets of drawing paper which were then "swiveled" so that a moving image effect appeared. With the help of computer and computer graphics, animated film making becomes very easy and fast. In fact lately more popping up 3-dimensional animated film than 2-dimensional animated film.

Wayang Kulit is one of the oldest forms of animation in the world. Even when electronic and computer technology has not been discovered, the wayang kulit has fulfilled all animated elements such as screens, motion pictures, dialogs and music illustrations.
While computer graphics (UK: Computer graphics) is a part of computer science related to the creation and manipulation of images (visual) digitally. The simplest form of computer graphics is 2D computer graphics which then evolves into 3D computer graphics, image processing (image processing), and pattern recognition (pattern recognition). Computer graphics are often known as terms.

Parts of computer graphics include:
Geometry: learn how to describe the surface of a fieldAnimation: learn how to describe and manipulate movementsRendering: studying algorithms for displaying light effectsImaging: learn how to capture and edit images.Animation Film Making ProcessEver watched a cool animated movie? Call it Final Fantasy or Spririted Away. But never imagine baseball how the production process? Wih, full of debate, staying up late, and closed by "entering the hospital".Imagine, we are one of the people who work in the production of an animated film. We go to the nearest cinema to see the hard work. After the movie screen is closed, the movie sign is over, we have heard negative comments from one of the audience. Imaginable dong annoyed. Staying late at night for the movie to be on-time appears in front of the audience, seemed to be wasted.Let's look at the meeting from Miyazaki-san and his staff at the Ghibli studio who are discussing just for one scene. In a room full of books, about five to six people gather. Miyazaki-san has summoned the supervising animators for the meeting. "So when she falls, she'll cling to a cabinet like a lizard, then when she falls-BAM! Like a snake falling so! "The animators just nodded. Miyazaki adds to his explanation, "No one has ever seen a snake fall from a tree," he asked. "Certainly not in Tokyo, sir," one man chirped. The room became full of laughter.
Build stories
The meeting is just one of hundreds of meetings in order to transfer the storyboard to the real animation. These activities are not special everyday activities. In the process of animated film there are three stages, namely planning, realization, and finishing touches. In the process of planning, usually begin to make ideas and storyboard story or e-konte. The idea of the story is expressed in the form of a synopsis. Usually tens to hundreds of preproduction paintings are produced to explore the possibility of the story. Preproduction painting is the initial visualization of the story. Preproduction painting in America is a team of five to ten people. In the Japanese anime world sometimes preproduction painting done some people. In contrast to animation studios in America, where eight to ten people are invited to become storyboard artists, usually in Japan there is only one person who becomes storyboard artist. He is usually always synonymous with the director. Usually at this time the character designer started to be assigned. Very rare films like Lilo and Stitch in America. In the film scriptwriter, storyboard artist and director caught two people, Chris Sandres and Dean Deblois.
Stories in the American animation world are constantly changing. Quoted from Head Storyboard Artist for Mulan, Chris Sanders, "We thought to make Mulan a romantic comedy like Tootsie. After many times we try, nothing successful, until I finally upset myself. In the end we tried to make his personality as accurate as possible with his Chinese version of legend, which makes Mulan as a devoted daughter because other ways do not work. I'm relieved at the change. "
Some characters after repeated edited stories will be discarded. For example, for the movie Pocahontas, there should be a turkey called Red Feather but it is not significant so it is not worn. "I was told to design five models of 'Mulan' for Mulan", said Chen Yi Chang, the character designer of the film. "It is not directly so, but rather slowly according to the change of story."
The importance of "storyboard"
Usually in America and Japan there is a session called a story meeting where the storyboard artists gather and discuss a story. From the meeting will be decided the most appropriate scene. Not infrequently there is a great debate there.
Storyboards are generally still in a very rough phase. Not infrequently in a storyboard panel, the picture is made somewhat arbitrary. Storyboard for an animated movie generally looks like a comic. The difference is with comics, in the storyboard there are still small notes around the image either for repair or consideration. Not infrequently, especially in the world of American animation, panel-to-story storyboard of a movie is spread from one end of the building to the other. Until 1984, the Disney studio was still doing this. Some animation studios take the more practical way of posting the storyboards for the production team's grip.To test the effectiveness of a storyboard, usually held screening Leica Reel. Leica Reel is a collection of storyboards recorded with a camera. The good looks on paper, not necessarily good on the cinema screen. That is the reason for Leica Reel.
Once the storyboard is closed and agreed upon, then the layout and animation process begins. Layout is a blueprint of the composition of a scene. There are two types of layouts, namely tonal and linear. Tonal layout is made to adjust the light and shadow areas of a scene. Meanwhile, a linear layout is created to illustrate the details of a scene. Usually after the layout is given and approved, the background department will take over and produce the colored version. Not infrequently many computers play a role in this process. Though still hand-tinted, Tom Cardone-a member of the animated film production team Hercules-admits the computer is quite instrumental. "In the past, the improvement of a background can take two days. Now, 45 minutes are so. "
It takes a lot of people
In the animation process, the people involved are not small. There are two big departments, namely the animation department and the clean-up department. The level of office in the process is, inbetweener, assistant animator, animator, and supervising animator. In the department of animation itself there are two parts, namely character animation and special effects animation. It has been seen from its name that character animation is assigned to draw characters. Meanwhile, special effects take care of things like describing raindrop, lightning, smoke, and others. Although there is already a computer to take care of this, some animation studios are reluctant to leave the effects drawn by hand. The advantages of the effects that are still drawn by hand include the possibility of effect stylization, which is a description of the effects that can be adjusted with the artistic style of the director's direction or the art director of the film.
After the animation process is complete, it will still be a clean-up process. As the name suggests, clean-ups are in charge of "cleaning". Clean? As mentioned above, the highest level in the work of animation is the supervising animator. Not necessarily the assistant supervisor can draw exactly the same picture as the supervisor. The inconvenience is added when the supervising animator has a habit of making very rough drawings (like Glen Keane). In order for the cinema screen everything can look neat jali, then the function of clean-up officer becomes important.
This is not easy because they have to pay attention to small details such as the number of curves of hair (if any) on a character, the folds of his clothes, the cleanliness of the paper from graphite dust, and others. Not infrequently they wear gloves so cautious. Some people feel the name of this department is too demeaning to the importance of clean-up employees. However, until now no one can change the name with a better one. After the clean-up process is complete, the result will be transferred to cel and colored by Ink and Paint department.
Finally, the film will be recorded with a special camera, the multiplane camera. Lately more popuer method is to process the merging of background and animation into one inside the computer.
The sound of a movie can be done before or after the movie is finished. Most of the voiceover is done while the movie is still being processed, but sometimes as in Japanese animation, the voiceover is actually done after the movie is finished.Scoring, or arranging the background of the film's music, is usually done when the movie is about to finish production as in live-action movies. The scoring music composers are not bound to work for several years, but only in one film. They can do three or four projects at once when composing music for a movie. Examples are John Williams, Alan Menken, Danny Elfman, and Alan Silvestri. From Japan they have Yoko Kanno, Jo Hisaishi, Yuki Kajiura, Hajime Mizoguchi, and Kenji Kawai as their mainstay composers.
Until now it is still not clear how involved the composers in the anime world of the films they are working on. Hayao Miyazaki is quite dependent on his composer Joe Hisaishi. Before Jo Hisaishi will produce full-scoring films from Miyazaki, he will produce a prototype first which the maestro usually uses as his inspiration during work.
This work is not easy. There is an in-joke in the Disney studio that when the work is done, all the animators will lie in the hospital in a coma. This is because near the deadline most of them will be in the studio for days with sleep deprivation conditions. Some people at that time will only eat cereal without milk and glasses of coffee or coke.
Enjoy the animated movie!
Animated movies are not the same as other movies in general, because to make it requires extra will and patience. How not, to make an animation film lasted only eight minutes, at least could take more than one year. This was conveyed by Raimund Krumme, an animator and lecturer at Media High School in Cologne City, Germany, after the opening of the Animation gathering organized by Goethe-Institut Jakarta in collaboration with the Jakarta Arts Council, Boemboe Forum, Samali Academy and Indonesian Animation Film Festival.Apparently also recognized by this German animator that it is difficult to make animated films. Technically it may be easy, but to get the right story and create its appeal so it's more interesting to see it is very difficult. To make an animated film interesting to look at, the story presented is not just about the everyday reality that is commonly encountered, but should also be able to describe more things we already know."It takes a lot of patience to make animated films, it takes hard work," said Raimund who claimed to be the first time to come to Indonesia. The trick from Raimund to create an animated movie is to make the open storyboard. Open stroryboard whose contents of the story will be created complete with settings and duration can be changed at any time if it is felt difficult stories to be made animations or there is a better idea again."Do not be too strict with what is on the storyboard, because in the production process could be a change occurs," he said. The man who claimed to have made seven independent animated films said there is a big difference in the making of independent animated films with animated films for widescreen or so-called picture animation film.If you want to know how much the cost required to make an animated film for a commercial broadcast Raimund mentions usually can be less than 100,000 US dollars or if dirupiahkan ranges less than Rp 900 million ..
The number is indeed felt a lot, but for Raimund who is also accustomed to making animated films for commercial purposes, the amount is very reasonable. In contrast to Hollywood-made movies that can spend millions of dollars."It's not much compared to making a Hollywood animated movie. It's very cheap for me and if made alone and helped many people can be done with pleasure, "he said.Raimund also said if you want more patience can reduce production costs by making your own background or wax dolls with cheap and simple materials that will be the actors in the animated film. What's interesting is the technical development of animated film making is very fast, with 200 US dollars or worth Rp 1.9 million can already get computer software that makes a person can make their own music, own soundtrack, and make their own movies."It used to be $ 35 million to make movies along with all the equipment, now no need to go to the lab and use expensive materials,"
